HUMAN IS BEST. A fiction writer’s defence in a growing age of Artificial Intelligence (illustration by A.I.)
Readers haven’t turned into robots. Yet.
At least not until The Singularity occurs.
Intelligence of the human kind tells us that writing and reading are the most deeply personal activities the mind can indulge in. (And the least amenable to the artificial and the mechanistic).
Humanity and personally evaluated experience trumps all.
Yes, A.I. is an exciting tool for thought and even creativity.
But, as the saying goes, a great book (or e-book!) is the life-blood of a master spirit.
And readers are sensitive enough to feel a soul behind the words they read.
Roy Lester Pond is the human author of the world's greatest span of ancient Egypt fiction under the sun.
